Hello,
I'm AJ, a 33-year-old Product Designer & Senior Graphic Designer from San Diego, CA. and now based in Pittsburgh, PA.
I am currently leading initiatives, innovation & integration of design within A.I. and Machine Learning at the US Army’s Artificial Intelligence Integration Center (AI2C).
My Experience: I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and have over 13 years of hands-on experience creating and implementing effective design solutions. For the past 5 years, I’ve specialized in designing user interfaces and experiences across web, mobile, machine learning, and artificial intelligence applications.
With a strong foundation in graphic design and a focus on technology, I’m both a problem solver and a visual thinker—driven by craftsmanship and motivated by empathy. I gravitate toward storytelling and problem-solving, delivering thoughtful experience designs, interactive prototypes, and high-quality solutions grounded in design-led methodologies.
Who I am: I was born and raised in San Diego, California, where I spent most of my life. Growing up in a culturally diverse environment has shaped my perspective and equipped me with the experience and awareness needed to effectively meet the diverse needs of my clients.
One of my proudest accomplishments was playing soccer at a high level, representing both California and the United States in the National and World Cups for the U17–U19 semi-pro divisions.
My hobbies include collecting Marvel comics, playing video games, playing soccer, building Legos, and running Dungeons & Dragons campaigns with friends. These interests have shaped my personality, empathy, tolerance, and values, laying the creative foundation for my design career and personal growth.
I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed organizations such as NASA, Google, Rockstar Studios San Diego, Carnegie Mellon University, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Army, and various other freelance projects.
I approach every opportunity with humility, empathy, acceptance, and excitement. I'm always eager to share my personality and passion for design with any team or organization I'm a part of.
